Gardens, Farms, & Patches

We have had not so great of luck this year when it comes to vegetables that you don't get from the grocery store.

Our garden this year was a major flop.  Jon's thumb is still brown.  We did have a good supply of lettuce, cilantro, parsley, and cucumbers.  That was about it though.  Some how he/we managed to kill the zucchini and tomatoes.  The cucumber crop was large enough to pickle several jars of them.

A few weekends ago we went up to Miller Farms with some friends.  We met up with two other families that we went to high school and their kids.  We had six kids under the age of three.  I wish we had a group shot, but the rain won that round.  It was fun, except for the freezing rain that started picking up severely when we were out in the fields picking our bounty.  It was still fun to be with friends, but oh my we were so cold and wet by the end of it.  Next year we will pick a back up date.

The girls and I went to the Pumpkin Patch with MOPS last week.  It was incredibly windy, and unfortunately the wind cut our play time very short.  Instead of a play date, it was more like a pick-your-pumpkin-before-the-kids-blow-away date.  We did get some good pumpkins.  We hope to carve them this weekend.
