Misc. January Photos

With my new fancy iPhone, I've taken so many more photos of random moments during the day.  Its fun, and I like that it reminds me of my girls in happy moments, because sometimes it is hard to remember the happy moments when you feel like your entire day has been filled with whining and disciplining.  So, here are some random miscellaneous photos from January that don't really have or need a story.  Maybe just a caption..

Nora LOVES her Sophie Giraffe.  Why didn't I have this with the first two??

"You be my friend?"

Tomato Soup!  Lilly Jeanne's favorite food.

Clearly, Minnie stole the pillow.

She loves me.  A lot.

Ombre bath tub.  We are so stylish around here, even when we bathe.

Nora has officially found her thumb!  She has been an even more pleasant baby since.  Yay for self soothing!

Hair Cut Fix Up

Cecilia.  Oh, Cecilia.  One day, early in the morning, she found some scissors.  Instead of finding mommy or daddy to have them get put away, she decided that she would try them out first.  On her hair.  On her long, beautiful hair.  Not just a little bit either.  Nope, like a whole side of her head.  It required her whole head of hair to get shortened by about 5-6 inches.  But, hey, at least she didn't scalp herself, or cut Lilly or Nora's hair.  And although she looks so cute with it shorter, I'm trying to find the balance between saying how cute it is without encouraging her to cut her own hair in the future.  Thanks to Jen for making it pretty again!

Coffe Mugs and Sippy Cups

We have a hypothesis: As the sippy cups increase in your home, so do the coffee mugs.  Or is it the other way around?  Either way, we have both in abundance.  I have come to rely on coffee as a necessity to my morning.  I have enjoyed the occasional cup of coffee here and there through adult hood, but the more children I have had, the more addicted I have become to it.  I'm not so sure that it's actually the caffeine, (although, I'm sure that helps!) it is more the fact that coffee is a grown up drink.  My children, they do not drink coffee.  My husband, he does drink coffee.  See it is an adult thing to do.  It might be the only thing in a day that makes me feel like a sane adult.

In other morning news:  I've noticed that I find myself looking more like this later and later in the day on Mondays.  Probably because it is the only day of the week that I don't have to go anywhere.  Hey, at least I showered!

Doing Hair

With three little girls, the doing of the hair starts young.  I caught Cecilia and Lilly Jeanne playing "hair" the other day.  It was so sweet to watch them groom each other.  I'm sure that this is just a hint at what is to come.

And since we are on the topic of hair.  Here is a recent one of my Truffula Nora.

Saturday Morning Breakfast

I usually take extra time to prepare something special for breakfast on Saturday mornings.  Usually its pancakes or french toast, or little mini german pancakes.  Lilly Jeanne loves to help.  On this particular Saturday she suggested pancakes and excitedly ran to get her spatula to help.  She was so cute.  This is not really new.  She has run to get the proper baking utensil before when we make cookies or something.  She will run to the basement and select the appropriate tool for the meal.  She nailed it today.  I love this girl!

Sassy Pants and Swim Suits

Someone around here (not naming names) has found herself some sassy pants.  Complete with the most nerve grating whine and scowl.  I'm blaming it on teeth.  Her last molars are coming in and boy are they a doozy!  Low grade fever for 5 days, cranky, runny noes, angry bowels, and not enough medication or wine to comfort any of us.

We've had unseasonably warm weather.  It was almost 70* on Friday, so despite the snow on the ground, Cecilia decided that it was time to put the swim suit on.  She found her sassy pants too when I told her that I was not going to turn the hose on.  Silly girl!

Truffula Nora

Out little Nora is 4 months old now.  And she's a tiny little peanut.  She may have been the largest baby at birth, but she's the smallest at 4 months old.  She weighed in at just 12 lbs 3oz., in the 12th percentile, and 24 inches in the 30th percentile.  See... Peanut!

Nora continues to be a strong little one.  She found her toes, which is my all time favorite little baby trick.  She has started rolling over, but no one has actually seen her do it.  We will leaver her on her back on her play mat and then look back at her a few minutes later and she will be on her tummy.  Leave her alone again and she'll be back on her back.  She is also practicing these new tricks in the middle of the night, but can't seem to fall back to sleep when she rolls to her back.  For the record, I'm not a fan of practicing this trick in the middle of the night.  In addition to rolling, she has figured out how to arch her back when she's on her back and push herself around.  She about gave me a heart attack when she first did this on the changing table and nearly pushed her self off and into the hamper.

She is also enjoying the excersaucer now too.  She likes to be upright, and she is starting to reach for everything- toys, plates, mugs full of hot coffee, knives, paper, etc.

She has also found her thumb a few times.  When I noticed it the first time, I announced it to those standing around, and my sweet thumb addict Lilly Jeanne got so excited and said "YAY NORA!"

She smiles all the time, but she really makes you work for her giggles.  She babbles a lot now, and likes to blow raspberries.  Oh, and since we are on the topic of oral development lets talk about how much she drools.  WOW- she will soak through a bib in half a day, and if I forget to put a bib on her, she will need an entire outfit change by lunch.

The hair.  She has a full on mohawk at this point.  She has rubbed off any hair that was on the sides of her head, and all that is left is this totally awesome mohawk.  She has earned the nickname "Truffula" (as in the Truffula Trees from the Lorax) because of her fluffy hair.  (And as a side note, these Truffula Trees may have provided inspiration for her 1st birthday party theme...)

We also call her Nora Nora, Nora Lou, Lou Lou, Blue Eyes, Peanut, Peanut Brittle, and This.  Yes, sadly, it has come down to "can you hold This, while I help that one with such and such?"

We are finally getting onto a regular schedule with Nora.  And hooray for mommy- her afternoon nap has mostly coincided with the big girls nap too.  That, my friends, is a touchdown-grandslam-goal-3-point-basket in the game of Mommy.  Nora is napping about 3-4 times a day right now, and is sleeping really well at night.  She will go down around 7pm and get up once or twice and get up around 6:30am.  (Please knock on some wood for me now- thanks!).

She is starting to tollerate her car seat much better.  Thank goodness!

She sneezes just like her Pops.  I can't really explain it in writing, so you'll just have to trust me.  Also, she appears to be allergic to the sunlight and camera flashes.  She will probably hate me for this when she's a teenager, but this is a picture I caught of her in the morning with the flash of my camera.  Yes it is mid sneeze.  Hehehe.
